Prepare a customer list for uploading
Learn how to prepare a CSV or Excel file to invite customers in bulk.
You can upload a CSV or Excel spreadsheet to invite a group of customers.
betterbunch gives you a chance to map the columns and tidy the list before you continue, so your spreadsheet doesn't need to use a specific set of column names.
What to include in your file
Each customer you want to invite needs an email address or mobile number. A first name is optional, but it helps make the invitation feel personal so try to include first name where you can.
Use a separate row for each customer and clear column headings so you can recognise the data when you upload it.
Your file can contain extra columns, like reference number, or job details. You can set any columns betterbunch doesn't need to Ignore in the review table.
You can upload a CSV or Excel file. If your Excel workbook contains multiple sheets, make sure the list you want to use is on sheet one. betterbunch doesn't import data from the other sheets.
Tip: Include both email addresses and mobile numbers so you can take advantage of retargeting.
Check names and contact details
If you include names, use first names where you can. This avoids greeting someone with their full name or a title in the invitation. A row can still be used without a name as long as it has an email address or mobile number.
Each cell should contain one email address or one mobile number. If your export puts several numbers or addresses in a cell, choose the one you want to use for that customer.
betterbunch can send SMS invitations to New Zealand and Australian mobile numbers. Check that the numbers you intend to use are mobile numbers rather than landlines. betterbunch will accept these formats:
+642…+614…02…2…
Map and tidy your list after uploading
-
Upload your file from Create invite → Bulk upload.
- In Review your customers, use each column’s dropdown to choose First name, Email, Mobile number fields, or Ignore. You can map one column to each invitation field.
- Click a cell to fix a typo or add missing information. Foe example, if the mobile number is in a home phone column, copy it into the column mapped as Mobile number. Or, if a First name cell contains first and last name, remove the last name.
- Delete any rows you don't want to include with the rubbish bin beside the row.
- Use the eye icon to hide columns while you work, and use Columns to show them again. You can scroll through the table or use the page arrows to check the rest of your list.
- Check the number of customers shown on the final button. Click Continue with X customers.
Tip: Hiding a column makes the table easier to read. It doesn't change the column mapping. If betterbunch shouldn't use a column, set it to Ignore.
