How to track and manage missing Google reviews

Learn how to identify missing Google reviews and export supporting evidence from betterbunch.

Once you connect your Google Business Profile to betterbunch, we keep a record of your published reviews. If a review disappears from Google, it moves to the Missing tab.

This helps you see what’s missing and prepare supporting information if you want to ask Google to reinstate a review.

Before you start: You’ll need to connect your Google Business Profile to betterbunch using a Google account that owns or manages it. Linking your profile through Review Sites only does not enable missing-review tracking.

Find your missing reviews

  1. Log in to betterbunch.
  2. Go to Reviews in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select the Missing tab.
  4. Choose Active or Archived from the dropdown.

Active shows reviews marked Missing or Reported. Archived shows reviews you’ve marked Dismissed.

Open a review to see its full text, star rating, reviewer name, original posting date and the date it went missing.

How far back does tracking go?

betterbunch tracks missing reviews from the date you first connected your Google Business Profile, even if you connected before this feature launched.

For example, if you connected in 2024, you can see reviews that have gone missing since that connection. Reviews that disappeared before you connected won’t be shown.

Add notes to a review

You can add notes to record what you know about a missing review or explain why you believe it should be reinstated.

  1. Open the missing review.
  2. Enter your notes in the note field.
  3. Click Save.

If you’re requesting reinstatement, keep your notes factual and specific. For example, you could confirm when the customer used your business, what service you provided and whether there was any conflict of interest.

You can also use notes to explain why you’re dismissing a review or record progress on a support request.

Note: Your notes are included in exports. Saving a note does not send it to Google.

Update a review’s status

Use the status dropdown beside a review, or within its details page, to track your progress.

  • Missing appears in the Active filter view. Use it when the review is no longer visible on Google and you haven’t submitted a reinstatement request.
  • Reported appears in the Active filter view. Use it when you’ve contacted Google to ask for the review to be reinstated.
  • Dismissed appears in the Archived filter view. Use it when you don’t intend to pursue reinstatement or no longer need to follow it up.

Note: Marking a review as Reported does not contact Google. You’ll need to submit your request separately. See what to do if a Google review goes missing.

Export missing reviews

Export your missing reviews to keep a record or provide supporting information to Google.

  1. Go to Reviews and open the Missing tab.
  2. Click Export in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose Active or Archived.
  4. Select CSV or Excel.
  5. Click Export to download the file.

Active and archived reviews must be exported separately.

Your export includes:

  • The date the review went missing.
  • Its current status.
  • The reported date, where applicable.
  • The reviewer’s name.
  • The star rating.
  • The original posting date.
  • The review text.
  • Your saved notes.

What happens if a review returns?

betterbunch automatically detects when a review returns to Google. It moves out of the Missing tab and back into your published reviews.

Note: betterbunch helps you track missing reviews and prepare supporting evidence. Google decides whether a review can be reinstated, so reinstatement isn’t guaranteed.
