Formatting a csv. file

In this article, you'll learn everything you need to know about formatting your csv. file for bulk or blocklist uploads

To upload a list of customer into betterbunch, the list will need to adhere to the rules below.

  1. For the list of customers to be accepted, the file must be saved in a comma-separated value format (.csv)
TIP: We know that a csv. file can be tricky to edit, so we recommend opening the list in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and editing the list there. Once you have finished making any necessary adjustments, you can save the Excel or Google spreadsheet as a csv. file to be uploaded.
  2. The first row of your csv. file must contain three columns labelled 'Name', 'Phone' and 'Email'.
Note that even if you don't have an email address for your customer, you still need to enter the word "email" into row onecsv_file_example-1
  3. We recommend including first names only to help personalise your invitations. If the list contains last names or other titles, such as Mrs, we suggest removing these.
"Hi John" sounds more genuine than "Hi Jonathan Doe (prefers John)", don't you think?
  4. Your csv. must include a cellphone number and/or an email address for each customer.
The list does not have to include both, but if you collect customer phone and email addresses, we recommend you include them both.
We suggest including both so that you can take advantage of the promoter retargeting feature. Also, if one method of contact is invalid, we have a second method of contact through which to deliver the invitation.
  5. Your list will not be accepted if there are two or more email addresses in one cell. If you receive an error message when uploading your invitation, check that the cells contain one email address only.
  6. betterbunch can send SMS follow-ups to any New Zealand or Australian phone numbers as long as they are in one of the below formats.
+642xxx (with the NZ dialling code)
+614xxx (with the AUS dialling code)
    02xxxxx (without the dialling code)
2xxxxxx (without '0' before the number)
