How to run a Manual Retargeting campaign

This article provides a step-by-step guide for creating a Manual Retargeting campaign aimed at engaging customers who did not share feedback through their initial invitation

Sometimes, even after providing a great service and sending a betterbunch invitation, a customer might not engage with your invite and share feedback or leave a review. That’s where a manual retargeting campaign comes in handy.

Just like the No Interaction Retargeting feature, which automatically sends a follow-up email 24 hours after the original invite, a manual retargeting campaign gives you another shot at collecting feedback. But this time, you’re in control.

When running a manual retargeting campaign, you’ll be able to:

  • Choose when to send the follow-up

  • Decide whether to send it via SMS or email

  • Customise the message to suit your tone and audience

Tip: We suggesting turning the No Interaction Retargeting feature ON for your account to automatically retarget customers. Then, set a reminder to complete a manual retargeting campaign periodically—let's say every 3 months.

Steps to create a retargeting campaign

To run a Manual Retargeting campaign, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Login to your betterbunch account.
  2. Navigate to the Invitations page on the left menu.
  3. Click Export in the top right corner to export a list of all previous invitees.
  4. Consider formatting your list to remove customers you prefer not to retarget, such as:
    1. Contacts with the invitation status 'Clicked unhappy'
    2. Contacts with the invitation status 'Provided feedback'
    3. Contacts with the invitation status 'Clicked review site'
  5. Changing your Cool Off Period setting to avoid manually overwriting the cool-off warning.
    1. Navigate to settings on the bottom right of your betterbunch dashboard
    2. Open the Rules tab
    3. In the Cool Off Period textbox, type your chosen number of days. We recommend 30 days.
    4. Click Save at the bottom of the page
  6. From your dashboard, click Create Invitation and navigate to the bulk upload tab
  7. Select Browse or drag and drop your retargeting campaign list into the box
  8. Before clicking send, we suggest editing your invite to suit your brand tone. This is a great way to increase interactions with your invites.
    1. Click Edit Invitation.
    2. From the Select a Template dropdown, choose a prewritten message or type your own in the Custom 1 > 5 textbox.
